About PV

I’m a writer, mother, runner, guitar noodler, alcoholic, avid reader, wife of a swimmer, food adventurer and child of a narcissistic mother. I took up running at 43 years old and hope it’s something I’ll do for life because it has made everything easier by clearing the clutter out of this busy head. I’m on a quest to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

I have a giant platonic-ish crush on Freddie Mercury. This video was made near the end of his career, and it tickles me.

I’m Going Slightly Mad — Queen

When the outside temperature rises
And the meaning is oh so clear
One thousand and one yellow daffodils
Begin to dance in front of you – oh dear
Are they trying to tell you something ?
You’re missing that one final screw
You’re simply not in the pink my dear
To be honest you haven’t got a clue
I’m going slightly mad
I’m going slightly mad
It finally happened – happened
It finally happened – ooh woh
It finally happened – I’m slightly mad – oh dear !
Ha ha ha ha ha

I’m one card short of a full deck
I’m not quite the shilling
One wave short of a shipwreck
I’m not my usual top billing
I’m coming down with a fever
I’m really out to sea
This kettle is boiling over
I think I’m a banana tree
Oh dear
I’m going slightly mad
I’m going slightly mad (I’m going slightly mad)
It finally happened – happened
It finally happened – uh huh
It finally happened – I’m slightly mad – oh dear!

I’m knitting with only one needle
Unraveling fast it’s true
I’m driving only three wheels these days
But my dear, how about you?
I’m going slightly mad
I’m going slightly mad
It finally happened
It finally happened – oh yes
It finally happened – I’m slightly mad
Just very slightly mad!
And there you have it!

  1. Thanks for the follow. Glad to see you enjoyed yourself in Philly and at the Rock n’ Roll Half. Some parts of Philly never get old. Cheers from a fellow Penn alumnus!

  2. I found your blog through RunnerToHerDreams and so far have laughed 3 times already, and that’s just from your About Me page! I started running in my 30s and love what it has done for my physical and mental health!

  3. Nice to find you via Paul! Always love meeting other runners, especially other sober runners and a Queen fan too, awesome!

I love the art in your avatar photo, but believe it or not, that’s actually a John Williams Waterhouse piece called Psyche Opening the Golden Box. (He is my favorite artist.)

The link for it is here: http://www.johnwilliamwaterhouse.com/pictures/psyche-golden-box-1903/

He painted another called Pandora; you can find it on the same site.

Congrats on your running success and your sobriety. Nice too meet you,
    Christy

  4. I can’t begin to thank you enough for stopping over and following my humble blog-o-thing! I wish you the very best, not only today but well into the future. Be inspired and please take care.
