Thatcher State Park Hike

Hello and happy August!

This will be a key training month for me in preparation for the Wineglass Marathon on October 4. My coach sent me a couple intimidating sounding workouts to do this month — one is a 3 mile tempo followed by hill repeats at 5k pace (both in the same workout). Then I’ll have a 20 milers two days later. Yikes!

I’m also coaching two people, and my biggest challenge has been trying to keep them motivated with the heat and humidity slowing them down. I feel their pain. This step in learning to coach is a tough one.

On Friday, I went to a new-to-me park for a 6.5 mile hike with my husband and some friends. The day was beautiful and less humid than we’ve been having. And the company was terrific.

  1. Wow! What a gorgeous park, and what a lovely way to spend the day.

As to the coaching, you got this. 🙂 You understand the trouble, but they’re the ones who are going to have to choose to do the work.

  2. Gorgeous park – it is funny how easy it is to miss the things local to your area. We are still exploring our area 7 years after moving here … and finding people who have never been to many of the places we go in spite of living there all their lives!

Really excited for you in terms of both coaching and Wineglass … but definitely sad we won’t get to meet IRL since our NYC ‘dual birthday’ trip to visit our son at NYU for his and my wife’s birthday is confirmed for that same weekend.

    • I’m sad I won’t get to meet you too. But you’ve got a great weekend planned 🙂

My friend that picked the location for our hike works only a few miles from it, but had never been. I’m so glad he knew about it because it really was an excellent hike.

Have your say
