Aquaman, Hell Yeah

I may have mentioned once or a dozen times that my husband is a distance swimmer who successfully crossed the English Channel in 2013 in 10 hours 38 minutes. (shameless bragging πŸ˜‰ I’m so proud of him.)

He’s been swimming competitively since he was seven years old, and so naturally his favorite super hero is Aquaman. Unfortunately, Aquaman gets a lot of flack for having “lame” super powers. My husband is quite butt-hurt about it.

Personally, I always thought Aquaman was cool. When I was younger, I wanted to be a marine biologist… until I took my first biology class. I guess I just wanted to feed the turtles, swim with sharks and play with the dolphins and seals. I wouldn’t mind having the power to call to marine life, but since my swimming skills lag somewhere just ahead of my science ones, I guess having my husband as a fish will have to suffice.

However, don’t mind me if I’m imagining him more like this version of Aquaman, as played by Jason Momoa, formerly Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, and soon to debut in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman movie.

Yes, please.

  1. Wow, that is amazing. I have never been much around water, so technically I am a non swimmer. In the gym there is a lap pool, which I have been trying to do 1 lap.
Accomplishing the English Channel is such an incredible feat. WOW! πŸ™‚

  2. Okay NO ONE is going to be able to call Aquaman lame any more. Yes please is right! I love that you have your own Aquaman. πŸ™‚ I’d be bragging about his accomplishments too! He sounds amazing!

  3. So impressive your husband swam the channel. Would be so nice to be able to swim without actually having to THINK about what I’m doing. Aquaman looks quite… um…. tough, I’ll just leave it at that. I saw a trailer at the theater for AntMan. Aquaman is definitely better than AntMan.

I much admire what your husband did. I remember reading about swimming the English Channel when I was a kid. It seemed nearly impossible to me. I am also glad to be a marine scientist. I haven’t swum the Channel but have been down to 3000 meters in the ocean. Science is pretty nifty.

I used to want to be a marine biologist as well when I was a kid. AKA ride dolphins and work at SeaWorld. πŸ™‚ I would be bragging about my hubby too if he completed such an amazing feat. That’s just impossible to wrap my brain around as far as achievements go!
New Aqua Man? I like what I see. I’m pumped for Batman v Superman as a whole, though!
