L’enfer, c’est les autres

I was at the Y today for yoga class and a treadmill 10k, and after I finished my workout I saw a flier for indoor tennis league sign ups.

I’m not much of a tennis player. In fact, it’s been at least a decade since I picked up a racquet. Probably closer to two decades. But I like tennis well enough, being perhaps the only sport I felt even remotely adequate at until I discovered running.

Or I just have fond memories of the cute boy who was a coach’s assistant for tennis camp when I was in 8th grade.

So, I considered taking a flier, thinking it might be fun to knock a ball around.

Then I shook my head and walked away, muttering, “Nah, too social.”

  1. Doug Hart says:

I hate to come off as putting on a bunch of “airs” being from Texas and all, but the title of your post has a lot of spelling errors.

  2. Ha ha being French and having a both intellectual and asocial mom I grew up with this leitmotiv from her “L’enfer c’est les autres” (most of the time, “the others” being my father and I… sigh)
Needless to say I am not the most social person either…

Have your say
