I’m in Florida visiting inlaws. It’s always a good time. I’m actually sitting at a Grand Prix horse show with a winning prize of $100,000. I don’t know much about the sport, but I do get to go to these things at least once a year. It’s a different world. I see a lot of celebrities around this area (Bruce Springsteen and family probably the biggest).
I indeed got a mandolin for (delayed) Christmas. It’s beautiful!
It’s a Washburn. The case is almost as cool as the instrument. I can play all of four chords on it. I might get it new strings — I’ve gotten spoiled by the nano web Elixir strings on my guitars. The mandolin is much more travel friendly — my teacher (not Boone, the other guy) recommended it for it’s portability and because in hotel rooms it’s a lot less noisy than an acoustic. Plus it’s plain fun.
If anyone of note shows up at the horse show, I’ll try to stalk a picture. 😉 There’s live music here, mostly doing covers of Carly Rae Jepsen and the Black-Eyed Peas. My husband is hoping for a rendition of Gangnam Style.
