Every day I see the scars from the assailant who left me for dead at 20. Now and then, I see in my mind as well as my body the scars from the mother who tried to toe-tag me as an infant.
I am not my scars, seen or not.
Neither are you.
All of us are so much more than we often acknowledge especially to ourselves. Our scars as well as our frailties and failings, our vulnerabilities are a part of us, not the “all” of us. We all have them. There’s no small measure of comfort in acknowledging that.
You put a smile on my face every time I see the smiles on your’s.
